What Is Radon Testing?

At MDHI, a 5-star rated and fully insured home inspection company serving Maryland, we understand that you want to ensure your home is safe and secure. That is why radon testing is so important for your peace of mind.

Radon is an odorless, tasteless, colorless gas that is created by the breakdown of uranium in the soil. It can seep into any building or structure and cause serious health problems. Therefore, it is essential to test your home for radon if you live in an area with a high level of radon present in the soil.

Why Test For Radon?

Testing for radon gives homeowners peace of mind and reassurance that their homes are safe from this dangerous gas. It also helps protect you and your family from the potential health risks associated with long-term exposure to radon gas.

Radon testing can be done as part of a routine home inspection or pre-listing inspection, or it can be added on as an additional service. The MDHI team is experienced in radon testing and will provide accurate results so you know what levels are present in your home.

What Does Radon Testing Involve?

Radon testing involves using a device called a continuous radon monitor (CRM) to measure the levels of radon present in a house over a period of time, usually 48 hours or more. The CRM collects data from throughout the house to determine the average level of radon present. If high levels are detected, then further steps may need to be taken such as installation of a mitigation system to reduce the amount of radon entering the house.

At MDHI, we take pride in providing quality home inspections and services that give our clients peace of mind about their properties and safety for their families. For all your Maryland home inspection needs, call us today at 410-925-2088.
